Welcome to The Wig Salon!
Thanks to generous donors, The Wig Exchange has plenty of wigs available for clients to borrow*. Every wig we receive is professionally cleaned and reconditioned, so it’s completely hygienic and looks like new.
One of our volunteer Client Coordinators, a cancer survivor herself, will explain everything you need to know about wearing and caring for your wig. Professional stylists at our partner salon can help with pre-chemo haircuts, wig trimming, styling and adjustments.
All we ask is that you return your wig to The Wig Exchange when you no longer need it, so we can help as many women as possible, and to pay a nominal fee to help us cover the cost of cleaning the wig so we can prepare it for the next woman.
Our Program Coordinator will contact you, usually within 24-48 hours, to explain how The Wig Exchange works and to get some additional information from you. Soon after, you will be contacted by one of our volunteer Client Coordinators, who will help you with wig selection and will set up an appointment to meet you at either our office or our partner salon (both are located in the Rye, NY area). Our Client Coordinator will help you find a wig that you like, ensure that it fits properly and will offer tips and advice about coping with and managing hair loss.
We know this period of time is a particularly sensitive one for you. Please take a moment to read some of our testimonials from other clients to help put your mind at ease.
* Please note that there is a $1 rental fee and we encourage a $24 donation to help offset our cost of having the wig cleaned once it is returned. The Wig Exchange covers the cost for the initial professional cleanings of our wigs.
