The Wig Exchange

The gift of hair, from women who’ve been there.

For many women, hair loss is the most troublesome side effect of chemotherapy. A nice wig can ease that concern, but well-made wigs are expensive and may not be covered by insurance. Meanwhile, women who’ve finished their cancer treatments are often unsure as to what to do with their barely-used wigs. That’s why we created The Wig Exchange.
The Wig Exchange is based in Westchester County, New York. It is a volunteer-based program run by SOUL RYEDERS, a local cancer support organization. In the fall of 2014, The Wig Exchange San Francisco Bay Area launched.

Wig donations have been received from cancer survivors from 39 states, the United Kingdom and Germany. The Wig Exchange in Westchester, New York serves clients who are able to travel to our office or partner salon, which are located in Southern Westchester. Unfortunately, we are unable to send wigs to individuals through the mail.

Due to the overwhelming generosity of donors, we have received over 9,000 wigs since 2012! Our small group of volunteers are actively working to ensure that the wigs get into the hands of those who need them. In addition to helping local women through The Wig Exchange, we’re also providing wigs for women with cancer in developing countries through our Wigs Without Borders® program. At this time, we are only accepting brand new wigs that have never been worn. Thank you for your understanding.
